Brookside star Tina Malone has said she is "totally devastated" after announcing the passing of her husband Paul Chase.

The pair married in 2010 but later separated in 2019 before reconciling their marriage in February 2020.

On Wednesday, March 13, the Shameless actor took to social media to announce the sad news.

She told fans and followers: "It’s with total heartbreak I write this my husband Paul Chase Malone passed away this morning we are totally devastated."

Users were quick to share their condolences with Brookside's Tina Malone with one writing: "Sorry to hear this. Sending my love and deepest condolences."

Another said: "So sorry for yours and your families loss. Sending strength at this difficult time," while one fan commented: "So sorry to hear this Tina sending my love to you and your family."

When the couple split up in 2019, Tina shared on X, then known as Twitter: "With great sadness I wrote this myself and Paul have split up after 11 yrs together!"

However, they quickly found their way back to each other in 2020.

At the time, Tina told Closer magazine that she realised that many of the problems in their relationship stemmed from depression and told interviewers that she felt it was better to pull together.

Discussing her breakup, she said: "The love never went away, we're working on things now, our problems were compounded by depression but I learned that in tough times you have to pull together and not apart. We were either arguing, bickering or not talking at all, I'd end up putting Flame to bed and falling asleep next to her.

"Paul and I had always had a great sex life but were barely touching each other. At one point, we didn't have sex for five months."
