A mural of an East Lancashire DJ has been painted on the side of a Burnley pub.

The mural, which is 20-feet-tall, is of Burnley radio DJ Jordan North. It has been created, using cans of emulsion and spray paint, on the side of the General Williams Inn, on Manchester Road.

This is to celebrate Jordan’s first day as the host of the Capital Breakfast show which aired today (April 8).

Co-hosts Chris Stark and Sian Welby surprised Jordan on-air when the mural was unveiled.

Three artists, from agency Global Street Art, spent 70-hours working on the mural, using a combination of emulsion and cans of spray paint.

Stonegate, the pub group in charge, said the mural will be staying for three weeks. It is set to be painted over after this time.

On seeing the mural for the first time on-air, Jordan said: “I can’t believe this, it means the world to the little 10-year-old boy who used to go and watch Burnley play all the time, so to see that round the corner from Turf Moor is honestly amazing – thank you!”

The diehard Clarets fan was recently announced as the newest signing to Capital. This is after he announced his departure from BBC Radio 1 earlier this year.

The BBC announced former Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing would be taking over the presenting role alongside Vick Hope, who presented the afternoon show with Jordan.

His new show, Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby, will see the biggest artists and the most famous celebrities join them on the music station.

Listen to Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby April weekdays 6am – 10am across the UK and on Global Player, the official Capital app.
